The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
